Apple to open a water-perched store on Marina Bay
This will be the third Apple store in Singapore and the first-of-its-kind in the world.
Apple is set to open a new store at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) soon, although no opening date was specified. The tech giant’s Singapore website has uploaded a banner teaser with the words “see you soon.” The store will reportedly be housed in a spherical structure that sits on the waters of MBS – a place previously occupied by Avalon from 2011-2016.
Apple-focused news and rumor site 9to5Mac noted that Apple Marina Bay Sands will be a gleaming orb that will reflect the towering skyline of the Downtown Core during the day evoking the design of traditional lanterns carried during Singapore’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
9to5Mac also added that the store will have an oculus allowing light to pour in. There will also be an elevated boardwalk and underwater passage to connect the pavilion to the shore and The Shoppes.
The opening will mark Apple’s third locale in the Lion City and the first Apple store in the world to be located on water.
