Chart of the Day: Retail sales down

No thanks to lower sales in motor vehicles.

The Department of Statistics reported:

Retail sales (seasonally adjusted) decreased 0.8% in November 2012 compared to October 2012. Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales increased 0.1%.

Compared to a year ago, retail sales decreased 1.1% in November 2012 mainly due to lower sales in motor vehicles. Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales rose 2.0%.

The total retail sales value in November 2012 was estimated at $3.0 billion, close to that in November 2011.
