Chart of the day: What sold the most in Singapore’s retail trade sector in June?
Compared to June last year, wearing apparel and footwear sales grew by 92.4% YoY.
This chart from the Department of Statistics of Singapore shows the changes in Singapore’s retail trade by industry in June, compared to the same period a year before.

The wearing apparel and footwear industry showed the biggest sales growth for the year, with 92.4% YoY. This is followed by department stores at 57.8% YoY and watches and jewellery at 53.6% YoY.
Motor vehicle sales, however, fell by 11.4%, corresponding with the lower Certificate of Entitlement quota for 2022. Supermarkets and H=hypermarkets (-11.3%), and mini-marts and convenience stores (-4.9%) recorded declines due to a large base in June 2021 resulting from many people ordering groceries due to staying at home during the Heightened Alert period.
