Hypermarket chain Giant to shut down Vivo City outlet in early 2019
The move will follow the closure of Giant’s Junction 10 and Jalan Tenteram outlets this year.
Dairy Farm’s hypermarket chain Giant will cease the operations of its VivoCity outlet by Q1 2019 due to lease expiry, parent firm Dairy Farm told Singapore Business Review. The move will follow the closure of Giant’s Junction 10 and Jalan Tenteram outlets.
“We regularly review our portfolio of stores as part of business rationalisation process,” Dairy Farm noted.
According to the firm, the rest of the Giant stores are undergoing review due to factors like lease renewals and store performance. Dairy Farm assured that all team members from the Junction 10 and Jalan Tenteram stores were reassigned to other stores.
With this, they explained that employees from the ViVoCity store will likewise be re-deployed to other stores across Giant, Cold Storage, Guardian, and 7-Eleven outlets.
“Giant remains an important business format and we will continue to explore opportunities to expand its portfolio,” they noted.
