SingPost set to develop Singapore’s first “smart mall”
The Postman is on an e-commerce fast lane.
Being a technologically advanced nation compared to its global peers, it logically follows that the city-state would benefit from a shopping mall with eCommerce logistics solutions.
Seeing this opportunity, the Postman plans to redevelop the new retail mall at the Singapore Post Centre to offer greater convenience, choices and experiences to consumers by providing online e-merchants and offline brick-and-mortar shops all under one roof.
According to a statement by SingPost, the retail mall is scheduled to be completed around mid-2017 and will be at the present open concourse facing the SPC, next to the Paya Lebar MRT station.
“It will boast 25,000 square metres of retail space. The construction cost is about S$150 million, which includes upgrading amenities and façade for the adjoining office building,” SingPost said.
Meanwhile, online shopping in the new mall would be done via e-merchants which would include in-shop online ordering and flexibility in delivery and pickup timings.
