Lazada Group appoints Pierre Poignant as CEO
He will succeed Lucy Peng who will remain as the Group’s executive chairwoman.
eCommerce firm Lazada Group has appointed executive president Pierre Poignant as the Group’s CEO with immediate effect, a statement revealed.
Poignant will be leading the company’s strategic development into new growth pillars whilst continuing to manage Lazada’s overseas operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In April, Lazada Singapore announced it would develop online and offline e-commerce courses for over 1,000 entrepreneurs which would be completed by December 2018. The firm also teamed up with fintech startup Finaxar to provide online financing for its partner sellers in Singapore in August.
“We have improved and evolved and now come out stronger, more efficient and more agile than the start of the year,” Poignant said in a statement. “Our transformation has just begun and I am confident next year will be another watershed year.”
Since Lazada’s launch in 2012, Poignant has assumed other roles such as COO, overseeing customer service, supply chain and content production.
He will succeed Lucy Peng who will remain as Lazada Group’s executive chairwoman.
“Pierre is a well-respected Lazada co-founder who has contributed tirelessly to the company for the past six years,” Peng said in a statement. “He and the team of other co-founders had the vision to build our logistics network from the ground up back in the days when no one in Southeast Asia believed in ecommerce. This valuable asset has now set us apart from the competition.”
