How HPH Trust could benefit from shipping firm's shift to bigger vessels
Its container terminals are strategically located.
According to OCBC Investment Research, HPH Trust is likely to benefit from shipping firms’ shift to bigger vessels.
Here's more:
HPH Trust’s container terminals are strategically situated in harbours with natural and direct deep water channel approaches.
Its terminals are also equipped with Super-Post Panamax quay cranes and other advanced cargo handling equipment capable of serving mega-vessels with a capacity of 8,000 TEU or more, making its ports the preferred port-ofcall in the Pearl River Delta region for shipping lines that use such vessels.
In 2012, HIT and COSCO-HIT received 339 mega-vessels calls from major liners, including the CMA CGM Marco Polo – then the world’s largest container vessel with a capacity of 16,020 TEU.
We believe that HPH Trust will be a key beneficiary of the trend of shipping companies deploying bigger vessels as they strive for greater economies of scale.
