On a Brazilian rush: Sembcorp hopes to deliver first drillship to Brazil by 2015

Despite hull towing being pushed back by 6 months.

The South quay of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz yard is ready to accommodate the hull of its first drillship as works continue at the Singapore yard in the hopes of delivering the first drillship to Sete Brasil by 2015.

A report by DBS says that sub-contractors in Brazil are on schedule to deliver topside modules in 2H14 for outfitting. Thousands of skilled workers, technicians and engineers have been trained and are ready to commence work upon arrival of the hull.

According to DBS, SMM has prudently adopted back-loaded margin approach for drillships. The subsequent units are expected to command higher margins as the bulk of the design and detailed engineering costs have been captured in the first unit.
