Civmec to acquire Luerssen Australia in non-binding agreement with NVL

Luerssen Australia builds patrol vessels for the Royal Australian Navy.

Civmec Limited have entered into a non-binding agreement with NVL B.V. & Co. to acquire Luerssen Australia. It did not specify the amount involved.

Under the agreement, NVL will transfer all its shareholding in Luerssen Australia to Civmec. This includes assets, employees, and licences.

The move will ensure uninterrupted operations at the Osborne South shipyard in South Australia and the Civmec-owned facility in Henderson, Western Australia, according to an SGX filing by construction and engineering firm Civmec.

Luerssen Australia is responsible for building six Arafura Class Offshore Patrol vessels for the Royal Australian Navy under the existing SEA1180 contract with the Australian Department of Defence.

The proposed acquisition is subject to the Commonwealth’s approval, which both parties aim to obtain by 31 December 2024.

In the interim, Luerssen Australia and Civmec will collaborate to manage the SEA1180 project.
