COSCO Shipping to expand Jurong Island logistics hub
The expansion will nearly double the hub's operational capacity.
COSCO Shipping International will expand its Cogent Jurong Island Logistics Hub (JILH) following the success of its first phase completed in 2021.
The company is in discussions with EBD and JTC for the expansion.
The Phase 2 expansion comprises 2.5 hectares of land with approximately 62,500 square meters of corresponding built-up area, capable of nearly doubling the hub’s capacity.
The Phase 2 expansion will also extend its existing structure, using shared infrastructure like a ground-to-roof ramp to improve design efficiency and nearly double the hub’s operational scale.
The hub will also have a double-volume warehouse, automation, and enhanced container depot.
“A double-volume warehouse will allow higher stacking, and automation technologies like Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) will be integrated to optimize operations, addressing labour challenges, and improving cost-effectiveness. The potential revenue per Gross Floor Area will be significantly boosted,” COSCO said.
