MPA, private firms provide floating accommodation for foreign workers

Accommodations will be used starting next week.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has partnered with port operator PSA Singapore, Keppel Offshore & Marine, UK-based Bibby Maritime, and The Ascott Limited to bring in and manage two floating accommodations to temporarily house foreign workers, according to an announcement.

The floating accommodations will be used to house healthy foreign workers starting next week, as they will have to go through the necessary health checks before boarding.

Essential needs of the occupants will be taken care of. Medical and isolation facilities will also be set up nearby on land to ensure that medical support is available. The floating accommodations will also tap on the multi-agency Forward Assurance Support Teams for additional assistance should the need arise.
