Order cancellation mars Cosco’s new contract wins

It has taken two steps forward and one step back.

COSCO Singapore revealed that a European customer has scrapped it order for one bulk carrier, which was originally scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2016.

Cosco did not provide provide any specifics about the cancelled deal, apart from the fact that it was signed between its subsidiary Cosco Dalian and a European shipowner.

However, the company also revealed that Cosco Dalian has bagged a contract for two oil tankers from the same shipowner. 

These tankers, whose value have not been disclosed, are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2017.
