Sembcorp Marine bags wind turbine installation vessel project contract
The project is set for completion in early 2025.
Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, has been granted a contract to construct a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV).
The project is based on an in-house design by Sembcorp Marine, in collaboration with its customer.
"We are grateful for the confidence our customer has placed with Sembcorp Marine to bring this breakthrough WTIV design to the offshore wind market. The group looks forward to continuing the close collaboration with our customer to execute this project and contribute to the pace of energy transition," said Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters Senior Vice President Wong Teck Cheong in a bourse disclosure.
Sembcorp Marine has been working with its customer for over two years on designing this project.
The WTIV will be capable of operating at a high level of efficiency and will be able to handle the next generation of wind turbines.
The project is slated for completion in early 2025.
