Sembmarine delivers semi-submersible rig to Helix Energy Solutions
It is used for well intervention and decommissioning in waters up to 3,000m deep.
Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) delivered its Q7000 well intervention semi-submersible rig to Helix Energy Solutions, according to a press release.
The 93.6 metre-long, 61.1 metre-wide rig was jointly designed by Sembmarine and Helix to perform production enhancement operations as well as field development support, well cleanup and well-decommissioning tasks like tubing removal and seafloor clearance.
It is equipped with an IMO-certified Class 3 Dynamic Positioning System and the Helix-designed Intervention Riser System to execute its well intervention and decommissioning operations in water depths of up to 3,000m.
The Q7000 is expected to begin its first project in January 2020 off the West African coast.
In 2015, Sembcorp Marine also delivered to Helix the Q5000, similar to the Q7000.
