Singapore and Shandong to establish green and digital shipping corridor

The initiative will boost the maritime industry between Singapore and the Bohai and Yellow Sea regions.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Shandong Provincial Transport Department signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore -Shandong Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).

Under the MoU, MPA and the Shandong Provincial Transport Department will work with industry players to promote digital and low-carbon initiatives for shipping.

The Singapore-Shandong GDSC will cover the growing trade and shipping volumes between the two economies to promote green and digital solutions and boost the maritime industry between Singapore and the Bohai and Yellow Sea regions.

Both partners will also explore emerging technologies, alternative fuel handling, shore power solutions, digital information exchanges for port clearances, and the sharing of standards and best practices.
