Singapore Maritime Foundation is first partner of UN maritime transition task force
The foundation will contribute to the task force’s first project in maritime.
The Singapore Maritime Foundation is the first public programme partner of the United Nations-led Maritime Just Transition Task Force, where it will contribute to the task force’s first project on skills in maritime industry.
The task force, founded by the International Chamber of Shipping, United Nations Global Compact, and the International Transport Workers’ Federation, made the announcement during Singapore Maritime Week.
The task force was formed at COP26 in Glasgow to bring together governments, maritime workers’ unions, and the shipping industry to pursue a fair and equitable green transition in shipping.
It seeks to ensure workers’ rights and developing economies’ access to zero-emission vessels and zero-carbon fuels remain at the centre of policy decisions.
