
Yangzijiang wins $267m contract for five container ships
An additional five option orders of 3,500TEU container ships was part of the agreement.
China-based shipbuilding group Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, listed on the SGX, has entered into an agreement with a Japanese shipowner to build up to 10 3,500-TEU container ships.
Five out of the 10 vessels are firm orders worth $267.6m. The remaining five are option orders for identical vessels. The total cost of all vessels will be around $535.2m.
In total, Yangzijiang has secured new orders of 34 vessels, this year to date 2020, that are worth approximately US$1.03b.
The five firm orders are scheduled to be delivered this November.
