You won't believe these are the 3 competitive edges of Singapore yards
Track record deserves two thumbs up.
According to DBS, Singapore yards possess distinctive competitive strengths : 1. proven track record to deliver vessels on time and on budget; 2. global network of yards to accommodate the rising local content requirement; and 3. a wide range of designs for jack ups ranging from the usual non-harsh environment jack up (US$200m+) to more sophisticated designs that are capable of operating in the North Sea (US$500m+).
Currently, Keppel and SMM have three and two units of harsh environment jack-ups on their order books, with SMM having already successfully delivered one.
"In addition, Singapore yards have also continuously been moving up the value chain and are venturing into new products like drillships and FLNG (floating liquefied natural gas) vessels," DBS said.
