
SilkAir increases fleet to 22 aircraft
The regional wing of Singapore Airlines said it is taking delivery of three Airbus 320 next year.
"SilkAir currently has 19 aircraft in her fleet. This is set to increase to 22 aircraft with the delivery of 03 new Airbus 320 aircraft in 2012," Soraya Salim, the company’s head of public affairs told Singapore Business Review.
SilkAir, one of the youngest fleets in Asia, with an average age of 5.8 years, currently operates 13 Airbus A320-200 and six Airbus A319-100.
As of August this year, SilkAir posted 6.5%yoy carriage growth on 10% capacity increase, with a 2.3percentage point decline in load factor to 70.2%.
