Singapore welcomes equivalence decision by European Commission
The country is the first in Southeast Asia to achieve such status.
Minister for Transport S Iswaran welcomed the European Commission’s decision to treat Singapore's COVID-19 vaccination and test certificates as equivalent to that by EU member states.
Singapore is the first Southeast Asian country to be awarded the status, with EU DCC compatible vaccination and test certificates to be issued starting 7 December.
Holders of these certificates would be able to use them under the same conditions as the holders of EU DCC certificates. The reverse, according to Iswaran would also hold true as travellers from Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) countries with EU Digital Covid Certificates would also be able to travel to Singapore through VTLs.
Also announced in the speech was the expansion of the VTL program to six more countries, namely, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Turkey and Fiji.
