SilkAir inaugurates Bandung services

The thrice-weekly flights are operated with the A319 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy Class.

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, launched its inaugural flight to Bandung, Indonesia, Tuesday, when MI 196 departed Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 1555 hours.

The aircraft arrived at Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara International Airport at 1650 hours Tuesday. The return flight, MI 195, departed Bandung at 1735 hours and reached Singapore at 2025 hours (all times local).

Bandung is SilkAir’s ninth destination in Indonesia and the 37th in the airline’s network.

The airline’s other Indonesian destinations include Balikpapan, Lombok, Manado, Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Solo and Surabaya, according to a SilkAor report.

To mark this special occasion, customers on the first flight out of Singapore were presented with a local delicacy from Bandung, brownie kukus, or steamed brownie.

Passengers travelling on the first flight out of Bandung received exclusively produced SilkAir notebooks.

The thrice-weekly flights on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday are operated with the A319 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy Class. The flight frequency will be increased to five times weekly from 30 October with flights operating on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
