SilkAir launches inaugural flight to Mandalay
More flights slated as Myanmar opens up.
SIA’s regional wing has launched its inaugural flight to Mandalay on Tuesday. This is the airline’s second Burmese destination after Yangon.
The ten-hour flights to Mandalay will be operated on thrice a week, through a circular routing with Yangon. The flights will be departing Singapore on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
“As Myanmar continues to open up, we see significant potential for air travel to the country. We have seen increased demand for both leisure and business travel to Myanmar over the past few years and are excited to be developing this new market,” stated Leslie Thang, SilkAir’s Chief Executive.
Mandlay is Myanmar’s second-biggest city and its cultural and religious capital.
