Tiger Airways April passenger volume up 23% to 6.1mn

The airline’s load factor from May 2010 to April 2011 averaged 86%, compared to 85% in the previous 12 months.

From May 2010 to April 2011, a total of 6.1 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways, an increase of 21% over the 5.0 million passengers in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to April 2011 was 86%, an increase of 1 percentage point year-on-year. 

For the month of April 2011, Tiger Airways carried 623,000 passengers, a 23% increase compared to the same month last year. The average load factor across Asia and Australia for the month was 88%, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to April 2010, according to a Tiger Airways report. 

Tony Davis, President and Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings said, “We are pleased to report strong passenger numbers in April 2011, the first month of the new financial year. Recording passenger growth of 23% and achieving a load factor of 88% reflects the resilient demand that we continue to see for our low cost low fare product from Singapore and in Australia.
