Tiger Airways passengers up 11% in February 2011
484,000 passengers were carried by Tiger Airways for the month of February 2011.
According to Tiger Airways, 5.9 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways in Asia and Australia from March 2010 to February 2011. This is a 26% increase over the previous 12 months. Load factor from march 2010 to February 2011 averaged 86%, compared to 85% in the previous 12 months.
The average load factor across Asia and Australia for the month was 83%.
Tony Davis, President and Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, “We recorded a solid 11% increase in passengers in the month of February despite short term capacity reductions in our Australian domestic network due to temporary weakness caused by recent natural weather events. Capacity has been progressively restored and will be fully restored by the start of April 2011.
During February, Tiger Airways commenced new services between Sydney and Brisbane, which is Australia’s second busiest domestic route. Services will also be launched between Sydney and Sunshine Coast later this month.
