Caged growth for Tiger Airways?

Trouble from down under caused a 20% drop in Tiger Airways' passenger numbers.

According to the research from Maybank Kim Eng, Tiger Airways reported March operating statistics that were disappointing, showing an almost 20% dip in passenger numbers y-o-y.

Statistics were affected by Australian operations being kept at a reduced capacity. Tiger Airways expects to ramp up to 64 daily sectors only in the 2nd half of 2012.

With Tiger’s JVs with SEAir and Mandala still in its infancy, and headwinds of higher fuel prices continuing to erode margins, the road to recovery looks long indeed.
