Changi Airport’s passenger traffic inched up in April

Almost 4.4m passengers used the airport.

Changi Airport’s passenger traffic inched up by 0.2% year-on-year in April, according to Changi Airport Group.

The airport handled 4.39 million passengers, down from 4.53 million passengers in March.

“For the month of April, travel demand to Northeast Asia and South Asia continued to drive passenger traffic growth, offset by a decline in Europe travel. Among Changi’s top 10 cities, there were double-digit increases in passenger movements to and from Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo, compared to April 2014,” the group said.

On the cargo front, airfreight shipments at Changi grew 1.6% to 153,400 tonnes. However, there were fewer aircraft landings and takeoffs during the month, down 0.4% on-year to 28,260.
