Changi Airport’s passenger traffic inches up as Thai aviation rebounds

26.6m passengers passed through the airport in H1.

Passenger traffic in Changi Airport inched up in the first half of the year on back of sustained recovery in demand to and from Bangkok.

Changi Airport reported that 26.6m passengers passed through the airport from January to June, an increase of 0.2% compared to the same period last year.

Thailand traffic jumped 30% year-on-year, overtaking Jakarta to top the list of Changi Airport’s busiest routes for the six-month period. Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Manila complete the top five list.

Apart from Bangkok, Colombo and Mumbai also registered strong double-digit growth during the half-year, among cities with at least a quarter of a million passengers handled during the period.

Changi Airport also reported that passenger traffic grew 1% in June, with 4.7m passengers passing through the airport. This was Changi Airport’s busiest month so far this year.
