
Changi Airport passenger movements up 4.7% in September
Passengers from Japan led the airport’s traffic growth at 15%.
Changi airport handled 5.47 million passenger movements in September 2019, a 4.7% increase compared to the same period last year, the company announced.

Amongst Changi’s top 10 markets, Japan led the increase with 15% YoY growth, followed by China and Philippines – both registering an 8% increase in passenger movements. These offset traffic to and from Hong Kong with a 21% decline for the month.
For the first three quarters of 2019, total passenger traffic at Changi Airport rose 3.7% to 50.5 millions. Germany and the United States were amongst Changi’s fastest growing markets during this period, registering YoY growth of more than 20%.
Aircraft movements in September fell 0.7% to 31,200 landings and takeoffs, whilst airfreight throughput declined 7.8% to 170,000 tonnes for the month.
