Changi Airport’s retail sales hit $1.1b in 2022

The figure represents 37% of sales in 2019.

Stores at Changi Airport recorded a total sales of $1.1b in 2022, or 37% of the airport’s concession sales in 2019, pre-pandemic.

In the same period, the airport recorded over 13 million transactions, averaging about 35,000 transactions each day.

According to the airport, the recovery of passenger traffic boosted sales of stores in its transit and public areas.

When passenger traffic recovered to 72% in December 2022, concession sales reached 58% of the 2019 level.

More than nine in 10 landside and airside shops are already open in the airport to serve travellers.

The airport said its biggest spenders are travellers from  Indonesia, India and Thailand.

Meanwhile,  liquor and tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics, and luxury emerged as the most popular product categories.
