Changi passenger traffic up 6.1% to 5.23 million in September

Visitors from China and Japan boosted monthly volumes.

Singapore Changi Airport continued to book soaring figures across aviation segments with passenger traffic rising 6.1% YoY to 5.23 million in September, according to a media statement.

Traffic to and from Northeast Asia registered the largest growth at 7% in September on the back of strong passenger volumes from China (12%) and Japan (11%). The Europe and North America markets also booked double-digit growth over the same period.

Aircraft movements also inched up 3% YoY at 31,400 landings and takeoffs in September whilst airfreight throughput held steady at 185,000 tonnes.

As of October, over 100 airlines already operate in Changi which connects Singapore to around 400 cities and territories. It holds the distinction as Asia's most connected international airport and eighth in the world, according to UK air travel intelligence firm OAG.
