
Changi passenger traffic rose 4.3% in October
Traffic to and from the US climbed 28% with additional services from Singapore Airlines and United Airlines.
Singapore Changi Airport saw its passenger traffic increased 4.3% YoY to 5.38 million in October, an announcement revealed.
According to the airport’s statistics, all regions registered growth with European traffic climbing 15% boosted by travel to the United Kingdom and Germany. Meanwhile, traffic to and from the United States jumped 28%, albeit from a smaller base.
Aside from which, Denpasar, London and Melbourne which are amongst Changi’s top destinations observed double digit growths.
Meanwhile, aircraft movements rose 3.2% to 32,800 landings and takeoffs whilst airfreight throughput grew 2.1% to reach 190,000 tonnes.
As of 1 November, more than 100 airlines operate in the airport, connecting Singapore to 400 cities in about 100 countries and territories. With more than 7,200 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 80 seconds.
The airport also noted new services such as that of Garda Indonesia which just launched its four times weekly services to Belitung which is a new city link for Singapore. For Air India, a new four times weekly services started flying to Bangalore.
Meanwhile, connectivity to the US was strengthened with Singapore Airlines’ and United Airlines’ seven additional services to Los Angeles and San Francisco respectively. Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand also jointly launched a third daily service to Auckland from 28 October.
