Dear passengers: Don't bring your Samsung Note 7 on board

SIA and other airlines implemented a complete ban of the device.

Singapore Airlines (SIA), Quantas and four budget carriers in Singapore simultaneously announced banning all passengers on carrying Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 on board over the weekend.

Previously, passengers are allowed to bring the Note 7 on board, as long as the phone was turned off.

On its Facebook account dated October 15, SIA explained that the decision was made following the US Department of Transportation's public advisory of banning the device on US aircraft under an emergency orders.

Quantas and its budget carrier Jetstart made the announcement on Saturday. The ban was made effective 12.01am the following day.

Other carriers which followed suit are budget carriers AirAsia, Scoot and TigerAir.

On separate statements, the airlines warned of denying passengers boarding and checking-in luggage if found in possession of the device.
