Government to study proposed Hong Kong air travel bubble

After months of delays and issues, the Singapore-Hong Kong air travel bubble may soon take off.

The Singapore government has received a new proposal from Hong Kong for a travel bubble between the two cities.

In a statement, Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung confirmed that the government has received Hong Kong's proposal.

"We have received a proposal from Hong Kong to re-open borders safely. We are studying it and will be responding to Hong Kong shortly," the minister said.

He added that Hong Kong's capability to keep the pandemic under good control is a positive development.

There have been talks of an air travel bubble between the two cities since late 2020, delayed by a temporary spike of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong.
