Mainland tourists travelling to SG for Lunar New Year rise 499% YoY
Singapore is also amongst the top destinations for Chinese tourists.
Ten days before the Chinese New Year, the number of Mainland Chinese tourists travelling to Singapore increased by 499% YoY, data from Trip.com showed.
According to the travel agency, Singapore is amongst the most popular overseas destinations for Mainland tourists during the Lunar New Year holiday alongside Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Indonesia.
Singapore is also amongst the most popular destination countries for mainland Chinese tourists travelling to Southeast Asia.
The number of air ticket bookings from Mainland Chinese tourists to Southeast Asian countries soared by 864% YoY, said Trip.com.
"With the adjustment of mainland China's entry and exit policy, the cross-border travel market is also picking up with embassies and tourism boards across the world targeting Chinese tourists aiming to attract them back to visit their countries," Trip.com said.
