
Passengers carried by Tigerair Singapore jumped 18.4% to 432,000
Its Aussie arm was more impressive.
According to a release, for the month of June 2013, Tigerair Singapore recorded a 22.0% increase in traffic year-on-year (y-o-y) to 787 million revenue passenger-kilometres (RPK), while capacity increased 21.7% to 910 million available seat-kilometres (ASK). Consequently, y-o-y passenger load factor was 0.3 percentage point higher at 86.5%. The number of passengers carried grew 18.4% y-o-y to 432,000 passengers.
For the 12 months to June 2013, Tigerair Singapore recorded a 22.6% increase in traffic to 8.4 billion RPK, more than keeping pace with an 18.0% increase in capacity to 10.0 billion ASK. Consequently, passenger load factor was 3.1 percentage points higher at 84.0%. The number of passengers carried grew 15.6% to 4.6 million, compared to 4.0 million in the previous period.
Meanwhile, for the month of June 2013, Tigerair Australia recorded a 59.9% y-o-y increase in traffic to 299 million RPK while capacity increased 48.0% to 339 million ASK. As a result, passenger load factor improved 6.5 percentage points to 88.2% y-o-y. In June 2013, Tigerair Australia carried 244,000 passengers, representing an increase of 76.8% over the previous period.
The airline was operating at a significantly reduced capacity and on a limited schedule a year ago.
For the 12 months to June 2013, Tigerair Australia recorded a 119.8% increase in traffic to 3.2 billion RPK, following a 106.3% increase in capacity to 3.7 billion ASK. Passenger load factor improved 5.2 percentage points to 84.9%. The number of passengers carried grew 139.0% to 2.8 million, compared to 1.2 million carried in the previous period.
