Scoot to get names for first 2 aircrafts from online community
Scoot's bid for names gives participants the chance to win a pair of roundtrip travel tickets.
In a news release, Scoot, Singapore’s newest airline, announced that it remains on track for its inaugural flight to Sydney on 4 June 2012 and to the Gold Coast a week later on 12 June. The aircraft, staff and systems are in the final stages of preparation, and sales are building strongly. Plans are afoot for something special on the first flight.
With the first two aircraft about to be painted in Scoot’s livery, Scoot is now on the lookout for names exuding Scootitude for these aircraft to carry.
In keeping with its tradition of involving the community in building the airline, which started with its tagline, continued with the products to be offered for sale onboard and even determined its launch fares, Scoot is turning the challenge over to the public, offering a pair of tickets to each winner.
One winner will be chosen for each of Scoot’s first two aircraft, and the winner will get a pair of tickets for travel on the aircraft bearing the name they proposed.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing the community’s submissions, after the overwhelming and creative responses to previous campaigns,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s CEO. “It’s important to Team Scoot that the community has an opportunity to have a hand in the airline’s creation. And what better – and rarer – opportunity than to name an aircraft that will ply the skies and be seen by people around the world for years to come!”
Since Scoot took ownership of the two B777-200 aircraft in March this year, they have been inducted into the hangar for complete overhaul, undergoing a heavy maintenance "D" check. Very soon, the interior of the aircraft will be refitted with Scoot's seats and cabin product and will be painted in Scoot's livery, before being released for commercial service next month. They will be serving Scoot’s flights to Sydney from 4 June, Gold Coast from 12 June, and Bangkok from 5 July.
The “Name Our Scoot Babies” contest begins 10 May 2012 and will end on 24 May 2012 at 11.59pm Singapore time. Participants can submit names of less than 15 characters, spaces included, through FlyScoot’s Facebook.
