SG residents searching for outbound travel up 4.4x during CNY: Sojern
Searches for inbound travel, meanwhile, increased 3.7 times.
Travel trends for the Chinese New Year (CNY) revealed a 4.4 times increase in searches outbound of Singapore.
According to a report released by Sojern, searches inbound to Lion City also increased by 3.7 times.
Sojern attributes this to an increase in vaccinated travel lanes that are currently operating this year, compared to the previous year. Leisure was also cited as one of the factors behind this outlook, with searches up 6.5 times.
Meanwhile, Malaysia topped the list of top destinations for Singaporeans, with 56% of searches attributed to the country.
Newcomers to the list include South Korea (5th place), Maldives (9th), and Germany (10th).
India, Australia, the US, Thailand, the UK, and the Philippines made up the rest of the list.
Travellers were also observed to be travelling longer than a week in order to take advantage of CNY’s shortened working week.
