SIA Engineering sets up Lean Academy to upskill workforce
Lean Academcy aims to re-skill, upskill, and develop the workforce' capabilities to enhance competitiveness.
SIA Engineering (SIAEC) announced the launching of Lean Academy, a new initiative aimed towards the re-skilling and upskilling of its current workforce.
The initiative is part of SIAEC’s Transformation Phase 2 which was initially begun in January 2021. $10m of the $40m budget allotted will be used towards an enterprise-wide transformation.
The academy introduces a value-driven process to optimize work through the use of methodologies, which have yielded the pilot phase at the Line Maintenance and Base Maintenance units. Productivity improvements of up to 30% have been recorded.
Qualified instructors are slated to help accelerate the adoption while using the Lean Certification. The use of the Lean Accreditation framework will also be used to enable the company’s business units.
The company aims to have 100% of its workforce trained in Lean by 2023.
In the long-term, training at the academy is expected to be extended to the wider aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul community.
