SIA, Scoot’s number of passengers soars to 893,000 in March 2022
This was attributed to an increased vaccinated travel lane quota for daily arrivals.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) and its subsidiary, Scoot, carried 893,000 passengers in March 2022, an increase from 544,600 in February 2022.
This is after travel restrictions eased and the government increased the vaccinated travel lane quota for daily arrivals.
Cargo loads went up 16.6% on the back of a capacity increase of 48.3% caused by progressive resumption of passenger flights. Cargo load factor was at 72.5% in March 2022 or 19.8 percentage points lower year-on-year.
SIA noted that growth in cargo loads was restricted by pandemic controls in China and Hong Kong that limited exports from those markets.
Also, in March, the SIA Group reverted its services to several destinations in Australia and Southeast Asia, as well as to Cape Town (via Johannesburg), Gatwick (via Bangkok) and Newark.
The SIA Group’s passenger network covered 93 destinations at the end of March 2022. This number is two thirds of the points flown prior to the COVID-19 crisis. Specifically, SIA served 69 destinations while Scoot served 43 destinations as of end-March 2022.
