
SIA transports more passengers in October after capacity cuts
The national carrier flew 1.6m people last month.
Singapore Airlines reported better operating statistics for the month of October, after the total number of its passengers grew 2.9% to 1.6 million people.
The national carrier’s systemwide passenger carriage, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, improved 1.9% compared to last year. The improvement came after a 0.5% reduction in capacity, as measured in available seat kilometres.
Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) improved 1.8 percentage points to 79%. Apart from East Asia where PLF was flat, PLF improved for all regions.
Including its subsidiaries SilkAir, Tigerair and Scoot, the SIA Group ferried over 2.5 million people last month. This marks an improvement of 3.8% year-on-year.
