SIA unveils much-anticipated Premium Economy Class service
It will be available in August.
Singapore Airlines today unveiled its Premium Economy Class service, which took two years and and a whopping US$80m to develop.
The new cabin class will enter service in August and will feature more spacious seats and other amenities.
Each Premium Economy Class seat has a width of either 18.5 or 19.5 inches, depending on aircraft type, with an 8-inch recline and a seat pitch of 38 inches.
It also features other amenities such as active noise-cancelling headphones and a 13.3-inch full HD monitor, which is the largest in its class.
Other features include a full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar for every seat, individual in-seat power supply, two USB ports, personal in-seat reading light, cocktail table, and more stowage space for personal items.
The Premium Economy Class service has been highlighted as one SIA’s potential growth drivers in its recent analyst briefing.
“The introduction of Premium Economy Class, we have decided, although this has been reviewed many times every year by us, we have determined that it is now the right time to do so, with the market adequately educated in that product. And that demand for it is building up on key sectors. Hence, we introduce - of course when we introduce, we introduce it our way, which is marketed differently from the existing products in the Premium Economy,” said SIA CEO Goh Choon Pong during the group’s analyst briefing.
