SIA's parent airline core profit up 64% to $56m
Thanks to a 4.2pt improvement in load factor.
Singapore Airline's parent airline surprised in the past quarter with an improvement in core operating profit, which reached $56m.
According to UOB Kay Hian analyst K Ajith, this 64% improvement in core operating profit is due to the robust growth in load factor.
More so, this was boosted by the easing of yield declines in the quarter.
“Yields fell by just 1.9% in 1Q18 vs a 4.7% decline in 4Q17,” the analyst noted.
Additionally, the airline's operating profits of $241m included $115m from a revision of Krisflyer breakage rate and $70m in compensation for changes in aircraft delivery slots.
