SIA's passenger carriage down in May on back of weak long-haul traffic

America and Europe routes were the main drag.

Singapore Airlines reported that its systemwide passenger carriage slipped 4.2% year-on-year in May, on back of continued weakness in its long-haul routes.

SIA experienced weak passenger demand on Americas and Europe routes, while demand improved for East Asian routes.

Its subsidiaries SilkAir and Scoot recorded passenger carriage growth, while loss-making Tigerair experienced lower passenger carriage due to a decrease in capacity.
