Singapore Air regional wing to increase fuel surcharges
Due to continued escalation in the price of jet fuel, SilkAir will increase its fuel surcharge for all tickets issued on or after 17 March 2011.
According to SilkAir, the surcharges represent an increase of between USD2 and USD10 per sector, depending on the distance and class of travel.
• Between Singapore and cities in South East Asia:
Business Class: to be increased from USD37 to USD41 per sector
Economy Class: to be increased from USD28 to USD30 per sector
• Between Singapore and all other SilkAir points:
Business Class: to be increased from USD100 to USD110 per sector
Economy Class: to be increased from USD88 to USD96 per sector
The application of fuel surcharges may be subject to regulatory approval or variation in some individual markets.
The adjustments will offer only partial relief of higher operating costs arising from increases in the price of jet fuel.
Like its parent airline, SilkAir will continue to monitor the price of jet fuel and keep the application of the level of fuel surcharge under active review.
