
Singapore Airlines loses out to Air Asia, Jetstar in the battle for the best Asian brand
It dropped 20 spots in Asia's Top 1000 brands ranking.
Singapore Airlines has lost the battle for the best airline brand against Air Asia and Jetstar, according to Asia's Top 1000 brands report by Campaign Asia-Pacific and Nielsen.
SIA dropped 20 spots and bagged rank 136 this year, compared to rank 116 last year.
Budget carrier Air Asia climbed nine spots and was ranked 34th this year, while Jetstar moved down one spot and was ranked 119th.
AirAsia and Jetstar bagged the first and second spots in the Travel and Leisure category. SIA clinched fourth place, behind hotel operator Shangri-La.
Other airlines in the category included Cathay Pacific at rank 180, Thai Airways at rank 191, Jet Airways at rank 226 and Virgin at rank 229.
The study explored consumer attitudes in 13 markets: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Research relies on a total of 400 respondents in each market, except India and China where participants number 800 and 1,200 respectively.
Participants were asked about the best and second-best brand that came to their minds in each category.
