Singapore Airlines' October load factors slide systemwide
Scoot's fell to its lowest in two years.
Singapore Airlines (SIA)'s weak October numbers are casting a pall over peak 3Q earnings expectations, said UOBKayHian.
"3Q is a traditionally peak period and the street expects earnings to improve in 2HFY17. The weak October numbers do not add to confidence," it said.
SIA's passenger load factors declined across the board, with parent airline’s loads falling by 1.6ppt on the back of a 3% decline in passenger traffic.
SIA attributed the decline in loads to “softer passenger demand”.
In addition, Scoot’s passenger loads fell by a whopping 10.1ppt, while both SilkAir and Tigerair’s also weakened.
Scoot’s passenger loads at 75.1% was also the lowest in 2 years.
