
Singapore to host European Union-ASEAN Aviation Summit 2014

The Singapore Ministry of Transport announced that Singapore will host the European Union (EU)-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Aviation Summit (EAAS) 2014 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel from 11 to 12 February 2014.
Jointly organised by the European Commission (EC) and ASEAN, the Summit will bring together more than 250 aviation leaders from the EU and ASEAN to share ideas on deeper cooperation in the aviation sector between the two regions.
Speakers at the EAAS include EC’s Vice President and Commissioner for Transport, Mr Siim Kallas, the Secretary-General for ASEAN, Mr Le Luong Minh, as well as transport ministers from EU and ASEAN.
The Ministry fo Transport said participants at the Summit can look forward to hearing insights from aviation experts on how the EU and ASEAN can work closer with each other to strengthen EU-ASEAN relations in all parts of the aviation value chain.
The topics that will be covered at the EAAS are as follows:
Session 1: Single Aviation Markets - EU and ASEAN Experiences in Integrating Markets, Removing Barriers and Regulating Air Transport
Session 2: Market Outlook and Business Opportunities in the ASEAN, EU and the ASEAN-EU Aviation Markets
Session 3: Aviation Safety – Regulation and Potential for Cooperation
Session 4: Air Traffic Management – Challenges and Opportunities
Closing Session: Prospects for Further EU-ASEAN Co-operation
