Singapore still 26th in World Airport Rankings
Meanwhile, Hong Kong jumps two places higher to 23rd as Singapore fails to improve its on-time performance significantly.
Singapore only increased its on-time flights, defined as those departing within 15 minutes on schedule, by a palty bump of 0.04% to 58.69% from 58.65% in April, according to the new rankings from FlightStats.
Hong Kong, in fact, declined its on-time performance to 69.38% from 69.49% last month, but managed to climb higher in the rankings, overtaking Paris and London due to the two's decreased on-time percentages.
At the top, Tokyo remained the most impressive airport in the world with an immaculate 96.67% on-time performance, up from 94.73% in May, and the only one in May to breach the 90% mark.
Second-place Charlote, NC saw just 86.12% of its flights take off on-time with the rest of the Top 5 -- Phoenix, AZ; Atlanta, GA; Sydney, AU; and Amsterdam, NL -- hovering between 83 to 81%.
Despite its rut in the rankings, Singapore is working on lowering its very late and excessive late flights, which cause much distress to passengers. Compared to May, very late flights (30 - 44 minutes) lowered to 7.19% from 7.90%; and excessive late flights (44 minutes up) came down to 5.96% from 6.44%. But on the late flights category (15 - 29 minutes) it faltered just a bit to 28.16% from 27.01% last month.
