Tiger Airways to double flights to Jakarta
Scarce rights reallocated from other airlines to Tiger to drive competition further with low fares.
Tiger Airways has earned double the stripes on its popular Jakarta-Singapore route. Having flown daily and delivering a strong 85% network load factor for the last financial year, Tiger has earned the rights to fly twice daily starting from late 2010.
In the recent distribution of limited traffic rights by Singapore’s Air Traffic Rights Committee (ATRC), Tiger won the additional rights from other airlines, while retaining its own, according to a Tiger Airways announcement.
Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore, said “We are pleased to be awarded additional rights to the popular Jakarta-Singapore route. We look forward to serving more passengers between the neighbouring Asean cities with our low, low fares. With twice the number of flights and choice of timings, we will be even better armed to lead the low-fare revolution to the benefit of consumers.”
