Tiger Airways to launch its biggest ever "Winter" schedule
The carrier targets up to 20% more seats compared to last year with additional routes.
This Sunday, Tiger Airways Singapore will introduce its biggest ever "winter" schedule, covering the period from November 2010 to March 2011. Whilst the majority of Tiger Airways Singapore's flights operate in balmy tropical conditions, this Sunday marks the start of the aviation "winter" season as many countries in the Northern Hemisphere adjust their clocks. The new flight schedule includes more low fare seats than ever before – with up to 20% more flights than the same time last year; 4 new routes with services between Singapore and Manila, Trichy, Trivandrum and Taipei starting soon; and covers many of the year's busiest travel periods.
Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore, said, “We are very excited about our new flying programme that we are launching this Sunday, as it represents the largest number of seats and destinations that we have ever operated. We have been working hard over the last few weeks to minimise the disruption some of our customers have experienced as a result of the aircraft reliability issues that we recently suffered with our new aircraft. Whilst this winter season marks our biggest ever flying programme from Singapore, we have also made some schedule adjustments in order to restore our high levels of reliability. We know that our customers expect not only the lowest fares from Tiger Airways but also the highest levels of punctuality, and we are committed to delivering both of these to our customers.
“We thank our customers for their continued support that has helped to make us the CAPA Low Cost Airline of the Year for 2010. We would also like to thank our competitors for helping us grow our webshare in Singapore. Whilst "www.tigerairways.com" has consistently been the number 1 airline website in Singapore, the recent blitz of marketing spend incurred by a competitor to promote our services has pushed our lead even further, increasing our market share from 20% to more than 24%*" said Rosalynn Tay.
In addition to the new services being launched by Tiger Airways in Singapore, Tiger Airways Australia will also be operating its biggest ever flying programme, with the introduction of new services from Avalon Airport in Victoria to Gold Coast, Alice Springs, Sydney, Adelaide, Mackay, Rockhampton and Perth starting on 10 November, and services between Sydney and Brisbane starting on 7 Feb 2011.
Tiger Airways is the biggest low cost airline operating from Singapore's Changi Airport and together with its sister airline in Australia has already carried more than 5.6 million passengers in the last 12 months.
